I started my Black Belt trip in May 2010. It was a hard and interesting journey that allowed me to get a more clear understanding of the DMAIC methodology and its problem solving techniques. I took this course as a professional and personal challenge because I didn't have a very technical - mathematical background. All my experience came from Customer Care and Project Management in Continuous Improvement activities... and the stats were a challenge. Before receiving training, I had a passing awareness of Lean and Six Sigma processes and tools. The challenge for me was how I could translate techniques that were designed ostensibly for manufacturing into a language that suited the needs of the service sector. I have been on training courses in the past where so much time was spent on theory and not enough on practical application, but the training Susan gave was very helpful to bridge the gap in my own understanding of how these pieces could be pulled together, and then used in an effective way for business improvement. Having worked at a senior level within a multinational organisation that was an active practitioner of six sigma I never seemed to have the time to fully understand and appreciate the benefits that could be garnered from it's application nor challenge those tasked with completing the six sigma projects. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt was a great course that really helped develop skills I didn't know I had. When I started the course, my expectations were not really high. I undertook the Six Sigma Green Belt Programme through Lean Sigma System Limited/BPI Consulting and from the first day I knew this was going to be a well run course. All participants were provided with the course programme, course books, primers and material on the first morning and it was clearly outlined the amount of work involved should one wish to undertake the ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt Certification exam.

The content of the course was excellent, Susan Clancy and Kevin Phelan's ability to explain the principles in practical everyday terms help to enhance my understanding of Six Sigma. Throughout the duration of the programme Susan Clancy and Kevin Phelan always made themselves available to answer any queries I had and as a result of this course I successfully completed the ASQ exam. I was also unemployed when I undertook this course and 2 weeks after completing the course I interviewed for a position of Manufacturing Engineer with a Medical Devices company. In the interview I was able to talk a lot about the course and my understanding of Six Sigma principles. I was offered the position a week later and as I had no previous experience in a manufacturing engineering role the one thing that I could identify that stood out on my CV and in the interview was my knowledge of Six Sigma.

I currently apply Six Sigma principles in my role when undertaking process improvement projects. The understanding and training I was given on the principles and Six Sigma software, helps to identify the key area that needs improving and this help to significantly reduce waste, costs and increase profits for the organization I work for.

I participated in the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Programme run by Lean Sigma Systems Ltd/BPI Consulting. The course was very professionally run with great attention to all levels of detail. This included a very nice venue, classes run very punctually, lecture material available on a memory stick in advance of the classes and all books supplied. It was very obvious from the first class that the tutors were very interested and enthusiastic and this was very evident in their delivery of the material. The other added advantage of the course was the encouragement given by the tutors to apply the theory to a practical situation and the mentoring that was available to assist you during the course of your project.

There was a cross section of people from different backgrounds on the course. This made the classes more interesting and also gave an insight into different experiences and industries. This along with a good mix of theory and practical work within the classes made the course more relevant as you could see Lean Six Sigma theory being applied to practical situations. The other important part of the course for me was the certification you received from ASQ upon the successful completion of the exam. I felt it was important to have a qualification to certify the standard that I had achieved. I am now, a self employed Financial Consultant. I do find I use the principles of Lean Six Sigma every day as it can be applied to whatever task and work I am involved in. I can say that I did find the course run by Lean Sigma Systems Ltd/BPI Consulting to be of a very high standard and very beneficial to me and I have no hesitancy in recommending it.

I attended Lean Sigma Systems/BPI Consulting 10-day ASQ certified Six Sigma Green Belt course. As an Engineer, I found the program very enjoyable and quite challenging. The ASQ certified Six Sigma Black Belt programme offered by Lean Sigma Systems gives an excellent insight to the background of the six sigma and Lean processes and offers companies a practical method of implementing these systems. The course was well managed and organised, its facilitators were of the highest calibre, each one an expert in their own right. This course made a sometimes complex subject interesting, and gives a good basic understanding of the subject matter while at the same using practical hands on techniques in achieving solutions and ultimately savings. Within the course there are two days mentoring given by the course facilitator, these two days were vital in keeping the project on track and solving any issues students may have. As there is a requirement from ASQ to complete a project as part of certification, this focuses the student on course material and how best to implement it practically in a company situation. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in improving their company performance, these techniques can be used in a wide variety of areas from financial, pharmaceutical, engineering etc.
